Colombia Aponte geisha | filter - single origin high-end coffee from Nariño, Colombia

Filter release #0003: Colombia Aponte!

The geisha variety has become very popular this decade, partly due to its strongly floral and clean profile. During Antwerp Coffee Week we tasted this coffee at Top of the Crop and were immediately sold: we had to and would have this coffee in our range. And so it happened: meet the Colombia Aponte Gesha! With strong floral jasmine notes in both the green coffee, during roasting and in the aroma after brewing, which nevertheless contains a surprisingly pleasant complexity. What can you taste? Jasmine, bergamot, white tea and passion fruit.

More details

About the producer Huver Castillo

Huver is a third-generation coffee producer - his father has been working in the coffee sector for 45 years - who only recently made the switch to life as a coffee producer. Until 2015, he was a mathematics teacher in Nariño when he returned to the family farm during a crisis in coffee prices. That is where the idea arose to rethink the sales model, and Huver began looking for new fermentation methods to improve quality and thus obtain a better price for the coffee. In 2019, they succeeded in standardizing all their processes and producing coffee of outstanding quality. Furthermore, they were able to ensure a very consistent quality.

Their farm El Paseo is located near Buesaco, on the road to Suma Paz. At this family farm, Huver has had the opportunity to work side by side with his father. El Paseo has been in the family's possession for over 20 years and is one of the three farms they manage. It is a beautiful estate, located at an altitude between 1750 and 1950 meters, with various native shade trees and situated on the slopes overlooking the Buesaco valley.

Shipping & Returns

At Drip Coffee, we roast our coffee in small batches and ship it as fresh as possible. Orders are usually processed within 1–3 business days after receipt of payment.

Pouring tips

We opt for a brew with the Kalita 185 Wave filter. Start with the standard ratio of 1:15 (coffee to water). Bloom with 50g of water and distribute the rest over two pours in a brew time of approximately 2m30 to 3min.

Storage & Maintenance

Store coffee properly and enjoy its delicious aroma for longer.

Keep it in a cool, dark place, but avoid the refrigerator! Want to store the coffee for longer? Freeze small quantities in an airtight container.

Our coffee is packaged in aroma-tight bags with a valve, so that its taste and quality are optimally preserved once it leaves the roastery.

Hmm, these are tasty too!

From origin to cup

Bringing out the best in coffee isn't just about roasting it well; it's about everything that happens before and after. We work with importers who value transparency, and we choose coffees for their origin and character, not for convenience.

Once they reach our roastery in Zottegem, each batch is carefully roasted in small quantities and tailored to what makes that coffee unique, whether it's intended for a filter brew or an espresso machine.

The process doesn't stop there: how it is packaged, stored, and brewed also determines the cup you ultimately drink. It is that attention from start to finish that, in our opinion, makes the difference.
