V60 Feature 1: Conical Shape

The distinctive conical shape of the V60 ensures that the layers of ground coffee are thicker than on the flat surface of a traditional trapezoidal dripper. The conical shape directs the hot water to the center, allowing it to remain in contact with the coffee longer and ensuring optimal extraction of flavor and aroma compounds.

V60 Feature 2: Spiral Ribs

When the coffee is saturated, the high ribs do not impede expansion and create an air layer between the filter paper and the wall of the dripper. The twisted ribs prevent the paper and dripper from sticking together, allowing air to circulate and the coffee to expand sufficiently. This promotes even extraction.

V60 Feature 3: Single Hole

The V60 has one large hole at the bottom, unlike multiple smaller holes found in traditional trapezoidal drippers. This allows the tip of the filter paper to protrude through the hole, ensuring that the hot water performs an extraction closer to that of a cloth filter, as it is less restricted by the dripper.
