Ethiopia Danse Mormora | espresso
Ethiopia Danse Mormora | espresso - high-end single origin coffee from Uraga, Ethiopia
Espresso release #0003: Ethiopia Danse Mormora!
Proud of our very first Ethiopian release for espresso at Drip! Its high density requires a slightly different roast profile for espresso - more heat transfer at the beginning of the roast. The natural profile provides delicious fruit notes and a flavor bomb in the cup. What can you taste? Blueberry, raspberry, rooibos, with an aftertaste of marzipan and a silky body.
About Danse Mormora
Located near Haro Lebetu - Guji region, Uraga district in the south of the country - the Danse Mormora washing station has built an excellent reputation over the years and, with its altitude of approximately 2,200masl, is one of the few high-altitude production sites in Ethiopia.
Historically, until the early 2000s, Guji was considered part of the Sidama region, but that has gradually changed with the recognition of Guji as its own region within coffee production. Many coffee farmers have their - often small - plantations, also known as coffee gardens, at even higher altitudes where the shrubs grow in fertile red clay soils. This allows them to distinguish themselves in terms of flavor profile from nearby regions.
For this release, we do not have a single producer, which is typical for the washing station. Because the coffee farmers in the region do not only grow coffee, their individual yield is often small; to avoid having to process the coffee themselves, they bring it to the Danse Mormora site where the cherries are sorted, weighed, and processed.
Although this coffee does not carry the organic label, no pesticides were used during the growing of the cherries - an Ethiopian farmer rarely has access to artificial fertilizers or chemical products. We can vouch for that.
