Brazil as an origin

As a world market leader in production and export, the choice for Brazilian coffee is never far away. The fact that coffees from the largest country in the Amazon also have a very accessible flavor profile makes this origin perfect as a base coffee for a 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘥, although it certainly stands its ground as a 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘯.

The country has numerous coffee regions, of which Minas Gerais is one of the larger ones, where various Arabica varieties are grown including 𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑏𝑜𝑛, 𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑖́, 𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑜 𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑜, 𝑎𝑐𝑎𝑖𝑎́, and 𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑢́. 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐢́ 𝟕𝟖𝟓 is a cross between 𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑖́ and 𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑢́.

At Drip, we opted for a 𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 – the process in which the cherries are stripped of their pulp and the beans are then dried, enhancing the sweetness and complexity of the flavor – of the Arabica variety 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗰𝗮𝗶 𝟳𝟴𝟱. This high-yielding variety provides a stable harvest and is known for a smooth, mild, sweet taste with excellent balance and low acidity.

Through Efico/Cuprima, we found this coffee from 𝗳𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮, located in Manhuaçu, the Minas Gerais region north of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Their estate of over 1 hectare is entirely organic thanks to years of investment and training to expand their knowledge base on the farm and to implement the best possible agricultural practices.

The Dutra brothers have been involved in coffee cultivation since the day they were born. Production takes place in a mountainous area, about 1400 meters above sea level. Thanks to the artisanal process, the altitude, and the soil of the farm, they obtain a differentiated product, and consequently, their coffees are ranked among the best coffees in Brazil and the world each year, both in terms of quality and sustainability.

Coffee is grown on contour lines in consortium with the production of avocado and African mahogany, which serve as shade trees for the coffee. Additionally, the farms are self-sufficient in the production of eucalyptus, which is reused during harvest and in coffee drying machines.

Coffee cultivation takes place in harmony with nature. The coffee plantations are planted among rocks, forests, and waterfalls, in perfect harmony with the environment. These coffees offer an exceptionally distinctive flavor profile for the market.
